8 Months and Cuter Every Day!

Lindsay turned 8 months old this month!  She is 19.2 lbs and getting cuter by the minute. :)  She loves people and going places to see the "action" -- meaning she's the perfect shopping buddy, has a ball at the park, and can't get enough of restaurants and grocery stores!

Here are a few of our 8 month accomplishments:

- "spins" and scoots backwards all over the place (no forward crawling yet, though)
- tries to feed herself with the spoon and ends up with more on her face than in her mouth
- LOVES visiting family (Grandma and Grandpa, and Lollie, Pops, and Aunt Abi)
- started veggies and fruits... so far, the favorites are peas and squash
- started shaking her head "no", but only to imitate you doing it
- still chews on EVERYTHING with no teeth to show for it
- loves to feel textures, especially different fabrics... quite a few times, we've found her on the edge of the rug entertaining herself with the different feeling of the rug vs. the wood floor
- favorite toy: teething ring
- wears 6-9 month clothes and size 3 diapers

Some fun 8 month moments:

Her favorite spot to feel the rug vs. wood floor!
We got to see Aunt Abi at the CPHS Kick-Off Pep Rally (not sure what that is on the picture, I think it's from the flash)

Now that Mommy's back at work, L's back staying with Grandma during the day. :)

Not really a fan of carrots the first time around... they grew on her after a few tries.

Probably better to wait until we have a tooth before we try steak....

She liked squash from the very beginning!

Baby Sweet Cheeks :)

Getting excited about our upcoming visit to see Mickey!
Sweet on sweet potatoes

We took a day trip visit our alma mater, and of course we had to stop by Mommy's old sorority house!

Getting excited about bananas
So, as you can tell, we have yet to meet a food we don't really like... she even gets excited about carrots now that we've had them a few times.  We're thankful she's already a good eater!  She is so much fun, and we are constantly amazed at how lucky we are to have such a great little baby in our lives.  We love you lots, baby bird! :)

7 Months

So I actually started this post last month and completely forgot to come finish it... guess that's what happens once Mommy starts working again!  Anyway, here is the slightly late 7 month post... better late than never, right?

7 Months Old!
Lindsay is 7 months old now, and she is a busy little bee!  She weighs in at 17 lbs, 11 oz and is a chatty cathy ("talks" all the time!).  She is also a really happy baby 99.9% of the time, and we are very blessed to have a beautiful, curious, good-natured baby!

Things Lindsay can do now:

- sit up by herself
- eats solid food (rice cereal)
- likes to sleep on her belly
- takes two good naps per day
- loves to read books
- "pants" when she gets excited about something
- pushes up on her arms when on her belly
- talks in one syllable "words" (ma, ma, ma/da, da, da/la, la, la...)
- still chews and drools like crazy
- loves to be in her Bumbo chair
- wears size 3 diapers and 6 month clohtes

Some fun 7 month moments...

We love spending the day with Grandma!
Hanging out with Grandpa
4 Generations of the Sheets Family:  Lindsay, Grandma, Daddy, and Great-Gpa Sheets
A family self-portrait taken on the computer... not the greatest, but at least it's of all three of us!
Getting ready for a bath!
Reading with Daddy
Mmmm... we love cereal!
Lindsay loves exploring on the floor!
Visiting Grammie
Pretending to play video games with Daddy... (the TV wasn't even on!)
We love you Lindsay!  We're having so much fun watching you grow and explore the world around you!

Going Green (Beans)

So maybe round one of green beans wasn't quite as successful as peas...

Maybe we just need a few days to get used to them!

Give Peas a Chance!

Lindsay tried her first "real" food today.  We have mastered rice cereal over the last few weeks, so why not throw some veggies into the mix?  Here is Lindsay's first taste of peas!

Our first taste.
Not quite sure what this is...
Whatever it is, it's really yummy!

Looks like peas will definitely be making on the menu in our house!

Catching Up...

We've had some major milestones this month... we started sitting up, moved to a big(ger) bathtub, AND started eating solid foods!

One night when Lollie and Pops (my parents) were visiting, we were sitting in her room talking and all of the sudden... she just sat and balanced all by herself!  We were absolutely shocked!  She does tend to fall backwards, though, so Pops had his hand out there to catch her just in case.

Our new, big(ger) bathtub... we were getting too big for the baby bathtub, but we're not quite ready to move to the big bathtub yet, so inflatable duck tub it was!  This one is actually designed to sit in the real tub, but she's a little wobbly when she gets to kicking and splashing, so we still take baths on the counter for now.  Oh and did I mention that it quacks?  She loves it!

Last but not least, we've started eating solid foods.  Here we are on our very first attempt at rice cereal... she looks so small sitting in the high chair!

Mmm, messy and delicious!  She's gotten the hang of eating off of a spoon this week, and it looks like we'll be moving on to veggies soon!

Family Reunion

Two weekends ago, we met our extended family at Lake Travis for a family reunion weekend and to celebrate Memaw's birthday (my grandma).  We have a big family and we are spread out all over the state, so we usually only get to see each other at Thanksgiving or Christmas.  Not only did we get to catch up and hang out with aunts, uncles, and cousins we hadn't see in awhile, but everyone got to finally meet Lindsay!

Swimming with cousin Cade

Happy Birthday Memaw!  We're in the party spirit!
Family portrait.  I have such a great family!!!  34 people... and this isn't even everyone! (another 9 couldn't make it)

Memaw with just the grandkids and great-grandkids

4 generations... Memaw (my grandma), my mom, me, and Lindsay

My sister and I tried to take a self-portrait, but apparently we have some creepers behind us!
Happy Birthday Memaw!  We had so much fun visiting with everyone... It's always a good time when you get this many of us together.  Can't wait until next year!

6 Months!

Summer has definitely flown by -- Lindsay is already 6 months old!  According to the doctor, she weighs 16 lbs, 3 oz and 26 inches tall.  She is definitely getting more and more expressive every day!  It has been so much fun to have the summer off to spend the days with her and watch her grow.

6 Months Old!

Things Lindsay can do now:

- rolls around a lot when she's sleeping... most of the time, she is on her belly facing a totally different direction that where she started the night!
- likes to spend more and more time on her tummy
- can almost sit up by herself
- chews on EVERYTHING!
- can get her toes into her mouth... and does it almost every chance she gets!
- added "gurgling" noises to her vocabulary
- went for her first swim in the swimming pool.  She LOVES to splash in the pool... which has made bath time way messier than it used to be!
- went to the 4th of July parade and loved watching all the people and marching bands
- wears size 2 diapers and 6 month clothes

Here are some of our favorite 6 month moments....

Summer is great because we sometimes go meet Daddy for lunch during the week!

Lindsay and Daddy

Lindsay loves to sit in her Bumbo chair and watch us cook dinner.

Wishing Aunt Jill a happy birthday!

We LOVE to go shopping, especially at Target!  So many bright, colorful things to look at!

She has started "devouring" books lately...
Helping Mommy bake our 4th of July cake.

Getting so close to sitting up all by herself!

This has become a Saturday ritual... napping with Daddy on the couch!

Lindsay also went swimming for the first time this month!

We love you Lindsay!  You are such a blessing to our family and we can't wait to see what all you learn in the next 6 months!!
