So NOT Organized...
So for everyone who has ever appreciated my organization skills, I have a little secret to share....

Yes, that's right. As embarassed as I am to say this, our Christmas tree is still up - we just haven't had a spare moment to take it down! At least we unplugged it on Sunday so it's no longer shining through our front windows. :) Hopefully we'll get it taken down this weekend!

December Adventures
Wow, this was seriously the busiest December ever! Here are a few pics of our adventures...
It all started with Thanksgiving weekend in West Texas with my extended family. This is us with my grandma, Memaw. We had a really fun time, even considering the unfortunate "big game" (A&M v. tu --we are the only Aggies in the family!). I declined the 3:30 AM Black Friday shopping trip, but I did tag along on the midnight-at-Super-WalMart run. My aunts and cousins really know how to shop this time of year!!
Three days after we got home from West Texas, we headed out to Walt DisneyWorld for our "delayed" 4th anniversary trip. This was our first time to go during the winter, and we got TERRIBLY spoiled to the nice weather and low crowds! We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and had one of the best vacations I think we've ever been on.

Our resort was on the lagoon, but not on the monorail, so we had to take little ferry boats to get to the Magic Kingdom.
Here we are getting ready to compete on the Toy Story Mania ride at Hollywood Studios. I'm pretty sure I won this one, even though Todd put on a pretty mean game face!

We saw the Candlelight Processional at Epcot - this is a "must-do" during the holiday season, and definitely put us in the Christmas Spirit! Steven Curtis Chapman narrated the Christmas Story with help from a huge choir and orchestra.
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party - snow on Main Street, special parades, shows, and pictures with the characters all dressed up for Christmas! Here we are taking a picture with Mickey Mouse in his living room. Not even kidding, they decorated the inside of his house for Chrismas!

I love Cinderella's castle, and at Christmas, they decorate it in thousands of Christmas lights so it sparkles and shines. So pretty -- I think I took 27 different pictures of it all lit up!
After Boston, the Christmas festivities began here at home - lots of visiting, baking cookies, and opening presents, then New Year's Eve and football games. Now it's back to work and back to a normal routine -- I think we're all ready for that!

The weekend after DisneyWorld, we flew to Boston for Todd's company Christmas Party. His company only has two offices in the US (the others are in Europe), so it was fun to meet the Boston team and spend some quality time with them!

Christmas Smores
Todd and I are both off this week for Christmas vacation, so we've been enjoying spending some time together. Yesterday, while we were at Lowe's, he had the bright idea to buy one of those small fire pits for the backyard so that we could make "Christmas Smores". I am always up for a good smore, so last night we set it up on the back deck and made ourselves some yummy treats! Here's Todd roasting some marshmallows.
We've decided to make this a new Christmas tradition -- good thing we live in a place where the weather stays pretty cooperative in December (notice Todd's shorts, tshirt, and sandals)!

The Cone of Shame
I don't know if you've seen the movie "Up!", but if you haven't, it is a wonderful Pixar film (now out on DVD!). I'm not sure how entertaining it is for kids, but as a young married adult, the story of an old man trying to fulfill his late wife's life-long dream was incredibly poignant and touching. My husband and I never miss a Pixar release, and we were not disappointed when we saw this one earlier this year.
Anyway, the point of this post is about one of the sidekicks, a dog named Dug. He's got a good heart, so he's a little bit of an outcast among the villan dog pack. After yet another mess-up, they decide to put him in "The Cone of Shame".
Our dog Toby is currently in his own "cone of shame" due to an injury under his chin. It would be an understatement to say he's not happy about the situation. Everytime he looks at me with those sad eyes I hear Dug's voice... "I do not like the cone of shame!" Poor puppy!

Warp Speed Ahead...
November 11th.
What?!?! It seems like we just started school! It's amazing to me that the years seem to go faster and faster the older I get. Is that happening to anyone else?
This fall, I've been amazed at God's plan of opening and closing doors. I am (slowly) starting to understand why some things work out and why others don't -- it's simply not up to us, and I'm going to try to remember that next time a door closes. I'm glad someone else has the big picture in mind and is looking out for us!
