Nursery: Before and After

Finally, a nursery before and after!  I have enjoyed decorating the different rooms in the house, but this one was by far the most fun and is definitely my favorite.

BEFORE
As a little background, this was our official "junk room" -- it was filled with boxes of stuff that we didn't know what to do with when we moved into this house 2 1/2 years ago.  The previous owners had painted it the most unfortunate shade of pink, and they made it glossy, which didn't help matters any (the pictures are deceptive -- it looked BAD in person!).

DURING THE DECORATING PROCESS
We decided to paint the walls with 12" vertical stripes in two shades of green to match the bedding.  People thought we were crazy and that it would never work, but we're pretty stubborn, so we tried it anyway.  Using a level, many rolls of Frog Tape, some tricks from HGTV, and LOTS of patience, the stripes actually turned out great!   We were thinking this would be fabulous for a girl's room,  and it would also work for a boy if the ultrasound turned out to be wrong. :)

Painting the first coat of light green... relieved it only took two coats to cover the glossy pink!

After we measured and taped off the walls, we started on the dark green stripes.

Stripes finished and tape removed!  And crown molding installed by the wonderful husband. :)

 AFTER
I have to admit, I think this is now my favorite room in the house!  We did a lot of the projects ourselves, which makes it that much more precious to us.

Her name letters (wooden letters, foam core, ribbon, and scrapbook paper) and her Owl Bow Holders (clearance coat hooks with the hook removed and strips of ribbon).

View from the door -- the banner on the windows was made for her by one of my friends at school.  Each pennant has a letter of her name.  It is adorable!!

The closet -- seriously, we have a ton of little girl clothes (and mostly 3-6 month sized!).  Some gifts, some passed down from cousins, and some just because they were so cute Mommy couldn't pass them up!  The dresser holds our folded stuff (pajamas, socks, shorts/bloomers, extra bedding, etc).

Across from the crib -- nice and girly with all the pink. :)

Better view of her letters.  I admit, I'm proud of these -- they took forever to make!
So that's our little girl's nursery -- it took a lot of work, but it was definitely worth it!  Too bad we can't make her leave it just like this until she leaves for college! :)
