A Change of Pace

When I made the decision last April to stop teaching and stay at home with my little one, I was a lot of things... happy, excited, nervous, even a little scared.  Teaching had defined me for the last 8 years, and putting that piece of myself away for a little while was hard.  I was very sad to leave a school that I loved and a group of people that had become a second family, but I knew down deep that I was doing the right thing.

So I started packing.  Somehow, over the course of 8 years, I had accumulated a LOT of stuff!
And this wasn't even all of it.
But after weeks of cleaning out and giving away, this was it.  My entire teaching career in just 9 boxes.  Well, technically 10 if you count the poster box.  All of the joy, hard work, late nights grading papers, hours spent coming up with activities, and teaching hundreds of students, packed away in these boxes.

My husband thought there were still too many boxes.
They don't seem like much.  But to me, they represent a career that I absolutely love, and one I know I'll come back to one day.  In the meantime, I get to experience the joy and hard work that comes with raising this sweet little one every single day, and I couldn't be happier about it!

Me and L on the last day of school in June, leaving the building for the last time.  :)
